Seattle based goCstudio is an innovative and award-winning architecture + design studio founded in 2012 by Jon Gentry and Aimée O'Carroll. The studio’s work is driven by the unique opportunities and constraints of site specific projects which evolve through close relationships with clients, artists, and craftsmen. These ties to our diverse design community foster an interdisciplinary and collaborative process. Our architecture is strengthened through these relationships, grounded in a strong consideration of site, material, and craft resulting in authentic and tactile buildings. An internationally diverse background of experiences of the founding partners brings a creative take to each project no matter the scale or budget. Our intent is that the resulting projects maintain their individuality while retaining a coherent design thread as a complete body of work.

goCstudio strives to product conceptually rich projects that act as partner to their community and site, where architecture and creativity are combined with philosophy and craftsmanship to create lasting human environments and experiences. It is our intent that the projects use our limited natural resources responsibly and that each design enriches its site and cultural landscape.

Jon Gentry AIA
Partner / Architect

Jon co-founded goCstudio in 2012 and is a registered architect in the state of Washington. Jon worked as project architect for 9 years in Seattle with a number of award-winning and internationally recognized practices before founding goCstudio. Growing up in rural North Carolina instilled a strong appreciation for the landscape and a passion for built structures that were grounded in a thoughtful analysis of site and expressive of their pragmatic functions. Jon believes that architecture born of a passionate process and inextricably tied to the act of making can inspire and elevate the everyday. Having designed custom lighting fixtures and furniture that have been exhibited and sold internationally, his work delves into architecture at every scale. Jon has been living and working in Seattle since 2003 after completing his studies at North Carolina State University where he earned his Master of Architecture degree.

Aimée O’Carroll ARB
Partner / Architect

Aimée co-founded goCstudio in 2012 and is a registered architect in the UK. Aimée previously worked on unique private residences with Liddicoat & Goldhill in London and Olson Kundig Architects in Seattle, as well as urban development projects with Stock|Woolstencroft. Building a house for just $20k with Rural Studio has given her hands-on experience of efficient and effective construction which has had a continued influence on her work to date. Aimée is passionate about design as a collaborative process and enjoys finding opportunities in this process that blur the conventional perceptions of what we understand as architecture. Aimée completed her studies at the University of Cambridge and the Architectural Association. Nominated for both the Bronze and Silver RIBA President’s medals, her work has been widely published and exhibited in the UK and abroad.

Ben Kruse
Staff Architect

Ben is a human male from the Philadelphia area recently graduated with a MArch from Iowa State University and has been a part of the goCstudio team since early 2017. Before pursuing Architecture Ben completed dual degrees in Creative Writing and Philosophy, so his architectural approach leverages his background into a sort of forensic humanism, using architecture as a means of exploring the intimate relationships between place, body, and building.
